Keep on Moving

Pattern Emporium Making Moves Subtle Barrel Leg Pants, size AU 8, high rise, small front and back crotch extension, short length shortened 1 inch before hemming 1 inch, 1.5-inch elastic waistband, front pockets (with modified pocket opening), from 2 yards black Luxor heavy linen slub.

I really like my khaki PyLos LiKnit pants from the Pattern Emporium Making Moves Subtle Barrel Leg Pants pattern, but I feel they have a bit too much fabric gathered around the waist. So this time I sized down one size to an AU8. I also tweaked the pocket opening again to keep things from falling out of my pocket. I also ended up cutting an inch off the bottom hem of the short length and hemming it one inch.

I used 2 yards black Luxor heavy linen slub from Surge Fabrics. This fabric is 210gsm 80%rayon/20%linen with a soft feel and lovely drape. It washes well with minimal need for ironing. I added two rows of top stitching on the back and side seams, which is hard to see in the photos, but it is a nice finishing touch.

The pants are quite comfy and easy to wear, and a nice change from my usual wide-leg pants (stay tuned for more of those coming soon). I’ve been experimenting with linen blends and previously made a pair of Sinclair Gigi pants from Robert Kaufman Brussels Washer Yarn Dyed Linen, which is 45%rayon/55%linen. The Luxor linen blend is much softer and less wrinkly. I plan to get more of the Luxor in other colors for tops.

Pants modelled here with a Pattern Emporium Be Mine top with Spill the Tea flared sleeves in cobolt airflow.
