Pattern Emporium Making Moves Subtle Barrel Leg Pants, size AU 10, high rise, small front and back crotch extension, short length shortened 1 inch, 1.5-inch elastic waistband, front pockets (with modified pocket opening), from 2 yards dusty khaki PyLos LiKnit.

I made my first pair of Pattern Emporium Making Moves pants from black airflow. I tried the mid-rise waist and all the pockets. I really like these pants and have worn them a lot, but I found myself wishing that I had made the highrise version. Also, as much as I love pockets, only the front pockets end up being useful as the side and back pockets are rather floppy. For my second pair of Making Moves I used dusty khacky PyLos LiKnit, which is a color I would describe as caramel. The LiKnit is technically a knit and it has a bit of horizontal stretch, but I treated it as a woven for this pattern.
I went with the high rise this time and 1.5-inch elastic waist. I also extended the front and back crotch a bit. I made the front pockets only and I modified the pocket openings to be more hoizontal and thus less likely for things to fall out of them. As with my last pair, I did two rows of top-stitching on the side and back leg seams. It takes a little while but its fun to do and provides a nice finished look.
My black pants hit me at ankle length (probably because I want to wear them pulled up higher than they should be), but with the higher rise, these ended up being a little too long. I ended up shortening them by 1 inch before hemming.
I love how these Making Moves came out! The fabric has a only a little bit of weight and a nice drape that works well with the barrel leg. These are super comfy to wear too. I will probably wear them mostly with untucked shirts but here are some photos with them tucked in so you can see the elastic waistband and that they also look good tucked.
I like the fact that the pockets are less susceptable to things falling out, but the tops do gap open a bit. I’ll tinker with the shape of the pocket opening more next time. I also wonder whether I could grade the waist in a bit more, to reduce some of the bulk in the waistband. Especially since this fabric has some stretch, there would be no issue of getting it over my hips.

(Modelled here with my PE Meet You There top in black double gauze.)
