Welcome to This Thing.* I&#8217;m a computer science and engineering professor at Carnegie Mellon University and director of <a href=\"http:\/\/cylab.cmu.edu\">CyLab<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/cups.cs.cmu.edu\/\">CyLab Usable Privacy and Security Laboratory.<\/a> I spend most of my free time with my husband\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.netbsd.org\/~chuck\/\">Chuck<\/a>), son\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/shane.cranor.org\/\">Shane<\/a>), and daughters (<a href=\"http:\/\/maya.cranor.org\/\">Maya<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/nina.cranor.org\/\">Nina<\/a>). I play <a href=\"http:\/\/dynamomsfc.org\">soccer<\/a>, walk to work, sew my own dresses with pockets, and try not to embarrass my three teenage\/young adult children. My pandemic pet is a bass flute.
