   Information We Collect

General
The The Carnegie Pulse website keeps track of the pages viewed by your web browser. We use this information to help understand how people use our website and to serve you with better content. Specifically, our web server logs contain data on your
IP address and other information such as your browser type, and the previous page visited.

Our web server also sets a session cookie in your browser each time you visit our website. This cookie is destroyed each time you close your browser. The session cookie is used to tailor content for you.

Course Schedule
Information you choose to enter in the course schedule section of our website will be used only in summary form and will not be linked back to you individually. We do use some information, such as a list of popular courses to provide features to other users, but never share any personally identifiable information

Polls
The Carnegie Pulse features online polls. Choices you make in our polls will not be linked back to you individually. In order to prevent users from taking a poll multiple times, our web server sets a cookie in your browser that indicates you have taken a particular poll. This cookie expires after one year and only indicates that you have participated in a poll, not how you answered it.

Talkback
In order to use the Talkback feature, you must create an account with us by providing your name, email address, and a password. This information is only used to provide you access to the bulletin board features. The account you create can be canceled at any time if you contact us. Your email address will only be used for account access, and to update users if this privacy policy should change. Your informatoin will never be shared with a third party.

Messenger
If you choose to receive content via email, you will be required to submit your email address in order to opt-in. This information is never shared with any third parties. If you choose to discontinue this service, please visit the unsubscribe page.

Event Submission
To recommend an upcoming event, no personally identifiable information is required for submission. If you choose to provide your contact information, this information will only be used for internal administrative purposes.

Joining
The Carnegie Pulse is always looking for new volunteers. If you choose to contact us regarding your interest, you will need to provide contact information. This information is only used as part of the recruitment process and is never shared with third parties.


   Information We Share

The Carnegie Pulse does not sell, trade, or share the personally identifiable information we collect with any third parties. All of the anonymous information that we do share is carefully sanitized so that our users cannot be individually identified.

   Security

The Carnegie Pulse is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of security while also providing high-speed service. We manage stored data with the utmost concern. However, we do not currently use SSL technology to encrypt the transmission of information between you and our servers.


   Accountability

The Carnegie Pulse is a Student Organization at
Carnegie Mellon University and is bound by the rules of conduct for students and student organizations. The Carnegie Pulse also adheres to all applicable federal and state laws.

   Third Parties

The Carnegie Pulse places third party advertisements on selected web pages. These parties may collect, use, and share gathered information in ways different from the Carnegie Pulse. Please refer to each company's respective privacy policy for further information.

1&1 Internet Inc. The Carnegie Pulse makes no claims regarding the content of 1&1 Internet's privacy policy or their privacy practices.

The Carnegie Pulse reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time. In the future, we may decide to collect more information from users, or to share collected information in different ways. In the event of a policy change, The Carnegie Pulse remains bound to this privacy policy for all information collected before the policy change. The Carnegie Pulse will notify members by email, if possible, in the event of a policy change. In addition, all past privacy policies will be made available on our website.
